The Bayelsa State Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has paid Condolence visit to the family of one of its dedicated staff who passed on in a tragic motor accident.
The Honourable Commissioner for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Mrs. Faith Izibenua Zibs-Godwin, led the delegation of Directors and management staff of the Ministry on the condolence visit to the family of the staff, Mrs. Dianga Alakembi, who tragically passed on Wednesday following a ghastly motor accident along the Oxbow Lake Expressway, Yenagoa.
Speaking during the solemn visit at the family residence, the Commissioner expressed deep sorrow over the painful loss.
She described the late Mrs. Alakembi as a dedicated, diligent, and humble officer who discharged her duties with uncommon commitment and integrity.
Dr. Zibs-Godwin noted that the news of her untimely demise came to the Ministry as a rude shock, particularly as she was returning home after the close of work in active service to the state.
She urged the family to take solace in the impactful life she lived and the positive legacy she left behind within the Ministry and beyond.
The late Mrs. Alakembi was on her way home in her vehicle, alongside the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Nengi Emberu, when a 911 lorry heading towards Oxbow Lake allegedly lost control, veered off its lane, rammed through the median barricade, and collided with their car. While Mrs. Emberu survived and is currently recuperating, Mrs. Alakembi unfortunately succumbed to her injuries at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, where she was rushed for emergency medical attention.
The Commissioner prayed to God to grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and assured them of the Ministry’s solidarity as they prepared for the burial rites.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the bereaved family expressed profound appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner and the Ministry for the visit and show of compassion.
They commended the leadership of the Ministry for standing with them in their moment of grief and assured that the family would duly communicate details of the burial arrangements.
In a related development, the Commissioner and her team also visited Mrs. Nengi Emberu to ascertain her condition. The team offered prayers for her speedy and complete recovery, expressing gratitude to God for sparing her life.
